About the Book

Slobbers may be just a puppy, but he’s pretty smart. Which comes in handy when the stinky, slimy snails that live in the gardens start growing way bigger than they should. And Slobbers is growing, too. He’s a Saint Bernard, so he’s supposed to be big, but soon he’s outgrown his collar, his house, and maybe even his new family! It’s up to Slobbers, his people, and a mysterious stranger to figure out what’s happening and put a stop to it before the town is overtaken by giant snails—and before Slobbers loses the family he’s grown to love.

How SPS Helped

Mari came to us for the full package for her first book - editing, formatting, cover design, upload, etc. Lucky for us, she had written and illustrated a delightful tale. We enjoyed reading the adventures of Slobbers while we worked with the manuscript. This was the start of a beautiful relationship. We helped Mari launch two more Slobbers books into the world, much to the delight of her fan-base!

“I bought this book for my granddaughter to read for her school reading assignments. She has absolutely loved it!! Thank you to the author!! I hope you have more books coming!!”

About the author

After a career of writing press releases as a public relations professional and post career blogging, Mari Meehan decided to try her hand at fiction. Something fun for a change. So, in her late 70s, she put on paper the story about a dog, a story that had been roiling around in her head for years. Friends who were successful writers suggested it would make a wonderful childrens story thus Slobbers, the Saint Bernard, was born.

The story of the dog displays all the traits that endeared the breed to Mari, who raised four of them over the years, plus a down to earth dose of the values that were in place when she was growing up in suburban Pittsburgh, PA. Her hopes are that those values and the nobility of the breed will strike a chord with all who read it - the young and the young at heart. It has kids, dogs, family, good guys, bad guys, mystery and adventure all wrapped into one wildly imaginative tale!
