PPC Books
is the service of
choice for authors who want to Self-Publish but also want to be
involved with virtually every aspect of their book’s production.
That’s not possible with mass-production Net Vanity companies.
At
PPC Books, every book is customized and authors are
consulted on text and cover design, with their input invited. While all
books differ, here’s the typical production routine for one requiring
full services:
- You
submit your manuscript, preferably on disk, together with any art
involved and the completed Agreement with initial payment.
- We
do basic editing (spelling & grammar), with more extensive editing
available if needed.
- We
also start the ISBN registration process, if chosen, in your name –
so you own the book outright.
- We
check with you about any special requests, like typeface, size,
design, etc.
- We
design, format & typeset the book pages for most attractive,
marketable effect.
- At
this point we also invite your cover input, including back cover text
and front cover art, if any.
- We
proof the printout and overnight 1st galleys to you to
proofread for typos and to make any necessary changes.
- While
you’re working on that, we usually send a rough proof of the cover
as an email attachment, inviting your suggestions and/or approval.
- You
return the galleys with your 2nd payment and cover info.
- We
make whatever corrections or changes involved, then overnight final
proofs to you for approval or changes, plus your final statement.
- We
also send a final cover by attachment, for your approval or changes.
- You
return the proofs with your final payment.
- We
finalize any typesetting or design changes and begin the pre-press
phase prior to printing.
- We
do a final in-house press proofing to determine that everything is in
order and OK to print.
- We
print, bind and deliver the finished book copies to you.
As
you can see, that’s far removed from the cookie-cutter routine you get
with a Net Vanity company. You’re involved virtually every step of the
way, and invited to phone or email your suggestions en route. The end
result is the book the way you want it, not the way it’s force-fed to
you in any other case. Please
